During the summer, parents are always looking for ways to keep the kids entertained on a budget. And, on a hot day, there’s nothing better than an air-conditioned theater with a family-friendly flick on the big screen.

Going to the movies can be an expensive adventure, though, so bargain hunters and frugal film fanatics alike are always on the lookout for discounted tickets. Lucky for them, many theaters are offering deals on cheap tickets for family movies this summer.

Here’s what’s playing at multiplexes around the country for family fun on the cheap in 2021.

Stake out your spot at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema’s Summer Kids Camp. All Kids Camp tickets are $3 each for kids of all ages — even adults. Each week brings a new selection of family-friendly movies, from recent animated favorites to timeless classics.

Most screenings are for ages 3 and up. However, some locations allow all ages. The chain’s famous no talking/texting policies still apply, and noisy families may be asked to leave.

The series runs all summer: from June to August. Titles, dates and showtimes vary by market.

AMC Theatres

Mark your calendar for Tuesdays this summer. AMC Theatres offers Discount Tuesdays, with tickets starting at just $6.50. In many cases, that’s a savings of 50% from regular ticket prices.

On Tuesdays, the chain also offers a $5 combo special at the concession stand. Both offers are only open to loyalty club members.

The chain has yet to announce any summer movies series for 2021, as it has offered in the past.

For every Wednesday from June 16 to Aug. 4, Cinemark’s Summer Movie Clubhouse opens its doors for frugal families with eight flicks for just $1.50 per movie.

Families can save even more, too, with $1 off deals on kids snack packs, large popcorns and large drinks during Summer Movie Clubhouse showtimes.

For six weeks, Harkins Theatres’ Family Fun Series offers a different kid-friendly flick with two showtimes daily (at most locations) — just $3 per ticket. The series runs from June 11 to July 22.

Plus, parents can save 50% on a Kids Combo pack — Monday through Friday before 6 p.m.

Both offers are only open to loyalty club members. The theater chain has locations in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oklahoma and Texas.

Regal Cinemas

For 10 weeks, every Tuesday and Wednesday, families can jump aboard Regal Cinemas’ Summer Movie Express for inexpensive family fun. Tickets are just $1 each. The series runs from June 1 to Aug. 4 at most locations.

It’s important to note that not all locations participate in the summer fun within any given movie theater chain. Be sure to check your area before loading the kids into the minivan.
